POA Areas:
Waste Management, Inc. is the POA garbage collection service. In order to provide responsive, dependable and quality service, they have offered the following:
Collection Days/Times: Monday and Thursday. Garbage should be at the curb by 7:00am. But please ... don't leave bags or cans with loose fitting lids out overnight. There are foraging raccoons and possums out at night, and they can make a real mess of your flimsy plastic bags.
Curbside Service: Household garbage, grass clippings, leaves, branches and tree trimmings are collected at the curb.
Container Packaging: Please package your household garbage, grass clippings and leaves in a type of container designed for use as a residential trash container such as standard lightweight metal cans, plastic cans or sturdy plastic trash bags (not "kitchen" bags). Containers and bags should weigh no more than 40 to 50 pounds.
Important note. For the safety and protection of Waste Management's employees and equipment, they require that branches and tree trimmings be no greater than three inches in diameter and be cut, tied and bundled in four foot lengths weighing no more than forty to fifty pounds.
Bulk or Heavy Trash Collection: This additional curbside service is provided on Thursdays for the removal of such items as moving boxes (please break down and bundle), old furniture and appliances. Please note that Waste Management can no longer dispose of appliances containing CFC refrigerant (refrigerators, freezers, etc.) without certification that the freon has been properly removed and recycled pursuant to current Federal law.
Unacceptable Items: For reasons of government restrictions, personnel or community safety and/or protection of equipment, the following items cannot be collected: Gasoline, motor oil or used filters, paint and other similar liquids, vehicle tires and batteries, and large pieces of metal such as car fenders and engines, and debris from construction and remodeling--such as carpet, rocks, bricks, concrete, dirt, sand, gravel, roofing, lumber, fence boards, large pieces of glass, etc.
Potentially dangerous materials, such as sharp objects, glass, metal, etc., should be properly identified and separated from other trash and/or double wrapped to avoid potential injury to the loader. Large pieces of glass will not be collected.
Holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. There will be no service on these holidays. Service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.
Customer Service: If you need assistance, please call 713-423-1778 weekdays 8am to 5pm.
